Transport for the South East | Regional Travel Survey: Analytical Report
This Regional Travel Survey provides an understanding of the travel behaviour across the different Local Transport Authorities the TfSE region. This report summarises the key findings. (context below)
Context
Unlike NTS, the RTS is specifically focused on the TfSE area and contains responses from circa 6,820 responses covering the 16 Local Trasport Authorities (LTAs). The sample was designed to ensure representativeness across socio-demographic groups and geographies, it provides a more granular and region-specific understanding of travel behaviour, helping to fill important evidence gaps for local transport planning.
The RTS provides insight into:
Travel patterns and volumes via a trip diary for a single day (sampling across different days of the week) including origin and destinations (i.e. location postcodes), trip purpose, modes used and time/day of travel
Household car ownership, including electric and hybrid vehicles
Behaviours and mode preferences (why a particular mode is chosen, changes in post pandemic commute frequency).
Socio-economic characteristics (e.g. age, gender, household size, income, education level, social class, ethnicity)
