Solent Future Transport Zone | Micro Consolidation: Lessons From Delivering Logistics Innovation

This session will explore innovative, sustainable logistics solutions that reduce congestion, improve air quality, and support net-zero goals. The Solent Future Transport Zone has delivered two micro consolidation hubs in Portsmouth and Winchester. 

Hear about the challenges, successes, and lessons learned when setting up micro consolidation hubs while gaining insights into planning, legal, and procurement approaches for logistics innovation. Micro consolidation hubs consolidate parcel deliveries in a single location and then redistribute them using low-emission vehicles, such as e-cargo bikes. 

The objective of this approach is to improve air quality and reduce congestion in urban centres by reducing the number of LGVs that would have otherwise made these deliveries.
